Supply of convenient, safe, and environmentally friendly plastic packaging materials worldwide.

Providing a wide variety of products including raw materials, intermediate materials, and new materials

There are two pillars in the plastic packaging materials business domain of CIPS. The first one is "granular plastic," which is raw materials used in plastic packaging materials, and intermediate materials processed from the raw materials such as "plastic plates," "sheets," and "films." Since plastic packaging materials are commonly used in everyday life, people don’t realize that it contains the world leading technologies. For example, packaging films used for confectioneries may seem to be made from a single sheet of film, but are actually made by combining multiple functional plastics. For the transparent section that allow the inner contents to be seen, a film with exceptional vapor and oxygen barrier performance is used, thus improving the shelf life of the product. In addition, films with multiple functions are accumulated, that printable film is used for the outermost layer, while the innermost layer must be a material suitable for the final heat sealing. At CIPS, we supply raw and intermediate materials for these plastic packaging materials and develop new markets by utilizing our global network. We also contribute to society by actively handling materials that are friendly to the global environment.

Worldwide supply of food containers/packages boasting state-of-the-art functions

The other pillar of plastic packaging materials is planning, development, and supply of food containers and packages (food packaging materials) for boxed lunches, ready-made foods, beverages, and frozen desserts, which are the main products of convenience stores, as well as stickers used to promote product values, and barcode stickers. For food packaging materials at convenience stores, not only usability, but also environmental conservation, safety, and cost performance are always required to go one step ahead. In response to these latest needs, CIPS promotes numerous initiatives that go beyond the boundaries of specialized trading companies to supply products that demonstrate high competitiveness. Our initiatives include; establishment of systems for planning, development, and logistics of food packaging materials integrated with those of convenience stores and food manufacturers, developmental investment in new types of equipment that produce patented food packaging materials, and business construction by lending machinery to packaging material manufacturers and food manufacturers. In order to respond to the needs of convenience stores, which have been promoting opening of overseas stores mainly in Southeast Asia, we also provide various types of support through the international bases of CIPS and the Itochu Group. In addition, we have introduced a training system with the aim of workers to acquire the certification of "packaging professional," which is an expert of all types of raw materials/packaging materials including plastic, glass, paper, and metal. We also place a focus on experts training of packaging materials.
