SYNTHETIC
RESINS

Providing raw materials to a wide range of companies in Japan, as well as infrastructure construction and construction materials

Synthetic resin is now an essential material used in a wide range of products, from home appliances and automotive parts to game consoles and daily household items.
ITOCHU Plastics supplies a wide variety of raw materials for synthetic resins, ranging from general-purpose resins such as polypropylene and ABS to engineering plastics such as polyamide and polycarbonate, and super engineering plastics to brand owners and plastic molders in a wide range of sectors. It is our mission to supply these raw materials to all kinds of companies in Japan.
Because the needs for raw material supply vary depending on the region and the industry of the customer, the nature of the business varies widely. For example, we respond to the need for small lot production of various products through our wholesale business, in which we sell small lots from our own inventory to each of our suppliers.
For specialized coloring and container material needs in the cosmetics industry, we sometimes work with domestic and overseas raw material manufacturers and various specialized suppliers, and are engaged in the development of raw materials as well.
We are also taking on daily challenges to achieve a larger scale of business through active investment in companies with expertise in various sectors, whether in Japan or overseas.
There are two categories in the industrial materials sector. The first is in the civil engineering sector, which serves as the foundation of social infrastructure. We are involved in the development and supply of eco-friendly products, such as steel-frame protection members for railroad and highway bridge girders, rubber joints to prevent pipe breakage due to earthquakes, plastic members to prevent landslides, fenders for piers to protect the hulls of giant ships, caulking materials to fill the space between window glass and window frames in buildings, rainwater harvesting tanks made of plastic blocks to prevent guerrilla rain, acrylic windows for seawalls to prevent tsunami, and so on.
The second is the building materials sector. We handle a complete range of products used in the interior construction of offices and apartment buildings, including plastic plates and pipes, light-dimming films, adhesives, paints, and corrosion inhibitors (Cortec products).

CIRCULAR
ECONOMYE

Developing global businesses in collaboration with our overseas bases

At the same time, ITOCHU Plastics’ business operations are not limited to Japan, but are expanding globally in cooperation with the ITOCHU Group’s overseas bases. We have also established our own overseas bases and are expanding our network primarily in Asia.
At each of these locations, we not only sell raw materials to local companies, but also contribute to international business strategies of our business partners by following up with them from the time of their launch through to the supply of raw materials as they expand into overseas markets.
In the domestic market, the need for raw materials from overseas has been increasing in recent years, and more and more raw materials are being imported from China, for example, and sold to domestic customers.
ITOCHU Plastics will continue to expand its business globally, regardless of imports and exports, with creative ideas.

Environmental protection measures that only professionals can take, such as the use of environmentally friendly materials

We are committed to exploring what we can do as a trading company specializing in plastics to address the many environmental issues that we face today. Environmentally friendly plastics, which do not use fossil resources such as petroleum, are attracting attention today as environmentally friendly materials because they are naturally derived, almost completely decomposed, and returned to the soil after use. We are also focused on proposing products that take the SDGs into consideration, such as “rainwater storage tanks” made from recycled materials. We at CIPS are aware that as plastics professionals, we can spare no effort to protect the environment, which we can only do as a group of specialists.
